The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation, BCIC, recently recognized Cori Pe\u00f1a, Director of Community Development, for an outstanding ten years of success and commitment to the community of Brownsville, Texas.<\/p>\n
Cori Pe\u00f1a, a proud native of Brownsville, Texas, began her professional career as an economic developer back in 2010 when she took upon the role of Project Coordinator for the community\u2019s \u201ctype b\u201d economic development organization, BCIC. During her initial years with the organization, Cori Pe\u00f1a oversaw plenty of administrative duties alongside several quality of life projects such as the Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts and the community\u2019s nationally recognized hike and bike trail system that spans over thirty-two (32) miles across Brownsville, Texas.<\/p>\n

During the September 24th, 2020 BCIC board of directors meeting, Cori Pe\u00f1a was recognized by the board of directors for her exemplary dedication to the community and organization. Michael J. Limas, chairman of the board of directors, stated, \u201cWe continue to see the organization grow, evolve and assume its role as a leading economic development organization, but a huge part of this success is attributed to the wealth of knowledge and experience Cori Pe\u00f1a provides the team as one of the region\u2019s most successful economic developers.\u201d<\/p>\n
As Director of Community Development, Cori Pe\u00f1a, is tasked to facilitate and attract quality of life projects that enhance the community such as key commercial developments, park enhancements, multi-use facilities, entertainment venues and public-private partnership projects.
