{"id":3277,"date":"2023-02-13T14:48:12","date_gmt":"2023-02-13T14:48:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/?p=3277"},"modified":"2025-07-25T14:04:33","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T14:04:33","slug":"ebridge-center-grand-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/es\/ebridge-center-grand-opening\/","title":{"rendered":"eBridge Center Grand Opening Celebration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS \u2013 The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation has announced the official Grand Opening of the eBridge Center for Business &amp; Commercialization, scheduled for Thursday, March 9th beginning at 3:00 PM, sponsored by PNC Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The Center is the culmination of over 3 years of design and construction efforts in partnership between the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC), the City of Brownsville, the Lower Rio Grande Valley Economic Development Council, the U.S. Economic Development Administration, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and UTRGV Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center (UTRGV ECC).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe best way to stimulate job growth and create new opportunities in industries is to find the people who are already doing amazing things in our community and support them,\u201d says Cori Pena, President and CEO of BCIC. \u201cWe are committed to strengthening our entrepreneurial ecosystem by supporting local talent our community already has, and helping them grow through meaningful collaboration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 36,000 square foot facility aspires to be the \u201centrepreneurial bridge\u201d for startups and legacy businesses to grow and commercialize their service or product on a larger scale. The center consolidates all the foundational resources necessary for entrepreneurs to start their ventures, obtain capital, scale their businesses, and reach new markets. The eBridge Center will be having an open house for the community, potential members and collaborators to tour the space as well as register for membership for the UTRGV ECC Incubator on Tuesday &amp; Wednesday, March 7th &amp; 8th from 10 AM to 4:00 PM.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3279 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/ebridge-grand-opening-official-819x1024.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/ebridge-grand-opening-official-819x1024.webp 819w, https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/ebridge-grand-opening-official-240x300.webp 240w, https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/ebridge-grand-opening-official-768x960.webp 768w, https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/ebridge-grand-opening-official-10x12.webp 10w, https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/ebridge-grand-opening-official.webp 826w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the eBridge Center, we are focusing on creating conditions where women and minority owned small businesses can scale their operations and increase their access to capital,\u201d says Nathan Burkhart, Director of Business Development at BCIC. \u201cWhen city leaders and entrepreneurs work together, they can create communities with vibrant local economies where startups and small businesses thrive \u2013 that\u2019s what we are doing in Brownsville.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The center exists in the former \u2018Casa de Nylon\u2019 building in Historic Downtown Brownsville, along the same block as the Charles Stillman House, the living quarters for the founder of Brownsville. \u201cWe like to say that Brownsville\u2019s past started there (Stillman House), and its future is in this building, all along the same block,\u201d says Burkhart.<\/p>\n<p>This project will foster the next stage of entrepreneurs and prepare them with the skills and resources they need to gain visibility, access capital, create jobs, and commercial growth. The center has already started training up and coming entrepreneurs in both English and Spanish with the most recent edition of their Kauffman FastTrac Programs, administered by the UTRGV ECC and sponsored by BCIC.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3280 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG_1192-1536x2048-1-768x1024.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG_1192-1536x2048-1-768x1024.webp 768w, https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG_1192-1536x2048-1-225x300.webp 225w, https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG_1192-1536x2048-1-1152x1536.webp 1152w, https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG_1192-1536x2048-1-9x12.webp 9w, https:\/\/brownsvillecic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG_1192-1536x2048-1.webp 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to provide all the tools that burgeoning, local entrepreneurs need to succeed,\u201d says Linda Ufland Romo, Director of Entrepreneurship, Commercialization and Innovation for the UTRGV ECC. \u201cThis facility will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the existing entrepreneurial ecosystem throughout Brownsville and the surrounding region by supporting entrepreneurs of all types across our community.
