Adopting the \u201cOne City\u201d philosophy, the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC), Cameron County, City of Brownsville, and the Greater Brownsville Economic Development Corporation (GBEDC) are pleased to announce that Workforce Solutions Cameron will remain in operation in Brownsville, continuing to serve residents across the city and Cameron County.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The announcement comes after the non-profit organization faced the potential loss of its building located at 851 Old Alice Rd., which would have impacted residents seeking critical workforce assistance. Through a unified and strategic partnership among the entities and Workforce Solutions Cameron, a Memorandum of Understanding was executed, and the building was purchased under new ownership to ensure uninterrupted services.<\/p>\n

This collaborative acquisition safeguards the important programs offered locally, including services for job seekers, veterans, individuals with disabilities, childcare assistance, grants for business owners, workforce re-entry support, and a variety of career training opportunities.<\/p>\n

Workforce Solutions Cameron is part of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Network. Representatives from the City of Brownsville, BCIC, GBEDC, and Cameron County joined Texas Workforce Commissioner Representing Labor Albert Trevi\u00f1o II and Workforce Solutions Cameron Chief Executive Director Rafael Vela in a ceremonial presentation and ribbon cutting to commemorate the joint effort to preserve these vital services for the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat you see here is the embodiment of the City of Brownsville\u2019s One City Philosophy,\u201d said Mayor John Cowen, Jr., City of Brownsville. \u201cWith the assistance of the Greater Brownsville EDC, BCIC, and Cameron County, we were able to step in and purchase this building to keep vital services that Workforce Solutions Cameron provides our residents and surrounding communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vela emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong local workforce infrastructure and shared statistics highlighting the organization\u2019s impact across the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Workforce Solutions Cameron, we stand committed to promoting and supporting a workforce structure that provides employers and individuals of Cameron County with the opportunity to achieve and sustain economic prosperity,\u201d said Vela. \u201cWe owe a debt of gratitude to the City of Brownsville, Greater Brownsville EDC, BCIC, and Cameron County for working with us to ensure we persevere and carry on with essential services.\u201d<\/p>\n
