Eligible locally owned small businesses can receive reimbursement for 80% of approved exterior improvement costs, up to $30,000<\/strong>. Applicants should review the guidelines, make sure the project is located in District 2, and confirm they have the capital available to complete the project before reimbursement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nuestro Historic Tax Credit Eligibility Map<\/a> got some airtime last week!<\/p>\n

KRGV spoke with BCIC about the new tool, which helps Brownsville property owners check whether a historic building may have a pathway to state or federal rehabilitation tax credits before starting work.<\/p>\n

The map currently includes 306 historic properties<\/strong>, with 278 showing a potential pathway to both the state and federal programs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Texas Venture Fest brought founders, investors, business leaders, students, and entrepreneurship partners together at the eBridge Center last Thursday as part of the statewide event.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Texas Venture Fest network spanned communities across Texas, with the larger event designed around one idea: founders should be able to connect with support where they are, while still being part of a bigger statewide network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

CANNERY OPENS THURSDAY<\/h2>\n

A new public space is opening its doors in Brownsville this week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

El Cannery Public Market<\/strong> will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, October 8, at 10:00 a.m.<\/strong> at 1700 E. 6th Street<\/strong>, across from Linear Park.<\/p>\n

The event will include remarks from community partners and a guided tour of the new facility.<\/p>\n

The Cannery will become the new home of the Brownsville Farmers\u2019 Market<\/strong>, while also bringing together food assistance, cooking and wellness programming, community events, and space for local vendors. The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley<\/strong> will have a permanent presence there, as well as a commercial kitchen in 2027 to support local food entrepreneurs and small businesses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
