The name and concept trace back to a 2017 trip the brothers took to Barcelona, where La Rambla, the city&#8217;s famous street, became the inspiration for their own corner of downtown Brownsville.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2020, BCIC&#8217;s COVID-19 relief program provided Las Ramblas with a loan, support that helped the bar stay open and staffed through the pandemic&#8217;s hardest months. The investment paid off. Las Ramblas has since been named a James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Outstanding Bar two years running, in 2023 and 2024, and executive chef Eugenio Uribe was named a semifinalist for Best Chef Texas.
