The Rio Grande Valley is home to several colleges and universities. Key players include the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), Texas Southmost College (TSC), South Texas College (STC), and Texas State Technical College (TSTC). In addition to these, there are other smaller institutions and satellite campuses that contribute to the educational landscape of the Rio Grande Valley.
Additionally, the Rio Grande LNG project by NextDecade is a significant development in the area. This project is expected to create thousands of jobs during its construction phase and hundreds of permanent positions once operational. Texas LNG’s facility is projected to generate around 600 jobs during construction and approximately 80 full-time jobs during operations.
